![]() If you’ve ever seen a medium or psychic, you’ve probably been told: “Your loved ones are always around, just look for the signs.” I know I am guilty of it. But, if you are like me you find that lip service very frustrating… After all, what constitutes a sign? And what do they mean? It’s not like feathers or pennies are like driving signs where all stop and yield signs mean the same thing. Fortunately, if you pay attention you’ll find that the same signs show up time and time again. They can be the feathers, or butterflies, or cardinals, or pennies… Or in my case, SONGS. When things are on the verge of change (usually good), my husband and I hear one of our wedding songs. You might be thinking, “So what? Songs are played all the time.” That’s true… but not this one. At our wedding, we opted to have a singer who sang Frank Sinatra and rat pack songs. He had his song book, but as is typical of my husband and I… we strayed. We wanted, Someone to Watch Over Me. He was a wonderful man who learned it just for us. Because it is a little more obscure, we don’t hear it very often. But… we do hear it. And as I mentioned, it is usually at profound times. The first time we heard it while we were out was less than a year after we were married. At the time we were in the middle of closing on our house. It was stressful as a situation had arose that was delaying our closing and due to the delay, put our mortgage in jeopardy. To clear our heads, we met friends at the Anchor Bar for dinner. They had chosen the place. But we were glad they did, because when we arrived we found Nick Battistella, gentleman who sang at our wedding, performing there. We had barely gotten settled, when we heard him dedicating the next song to us. It had been months, but not only did he remember us, he also remembered the song. In that moment, we knew at that everything was going to be ok. And, it was. The next time we heard the song was April last year. I was just about twenty weeks pregnant and we were going for our first sonogram. Don and I were super excited. At this visit, not only were we going to see the little one for the first time but we were also going to find out whether we were having a little boy or a little girl. As we sat not so patiently in the waiting room, I was startled when I noticed the tune playing softly in the background. Clear as day, there the song was. Smiling I leaned over, grabbed my husband’s hand and gave him a kiss. In that moment, we both knew that the baby was meant to be. And, she was. That brings me to today. I just finished an early afternoon reading and wanted to grab a bite to eat before the rest of my appointments. Don and I wandered over to the Elm Street Bakery in East Aurora – they have the best molasses cookies! It is a beautiful day, so after ordering our food we sat outside and got some vitamin D. Only a couple minutes had passed, when my hubby suddenly gave me a look, teared up and leaned over to give me a smooch. He then said, “Listen.” There it was, our tune! Now the question is… what does it mean? It’s always been a sign that something was meant to be and that we are on the verge of something big. Guess I’ll just have to wait and see…. a little unfair, if you ask me! Comments are closed.
