Seekers

Yesterday my Pathways to Spirit mediumship development classes took a “field trip” to Lily Dale. It’s been a trip that has been in the works for ages!!! Events, however, always happen in their time and the trip couldn’t have come at a better one. The Lily Dale season ended a couple weeks ago so we had the grounds basically to ourselves, the first cohort of students just completed the first year of unfoldment curriculum, and the second group is just beginning. Talk about timing!!

Between my students and their loved ones, there were 22 of us. Each of these individuals is on their own personal path to enlightenment and the day’s activities were designed around that. We walked the Pilgrim’s Path Labyrinth, did a Trust Walk, meditated on the Cycles of Truth Medicine Wheel, and, walked the grounds. It was a beautiful day.

My group, however, were not the only “seekers” at Lily Dale yesterday.

As the day was coming to a close and I was making my way down to Inspiration Stump as it was time to formally recognize each individual who for the past year has dedicated themselves to mediumship development and for them to stand where so many other student mediums have stood to practice passing messages, I was approached by a couple who inquired about activities occurring in Lily Dale (I must have looked like I knew what I was doing??) In our conversation, they expressed that they had felt drawn to make the trek from Attica to Lily Dale today (I couldn’t blame them, it was a beautiful fall day and a great day for a motorcycle ride!), but that once there they didn’t really know what to do. To which I had to inform them that unfortunately, since the Lily Dale season had ended a couple of weeks ago, the public services are not occurring but that they may be able to get a private consultation (although it was late in the day, so I wasn’t sure) and the grounds are always available to wander and enjoy. Additionally, there may be events happening that I’m not aware of. I also mentioned my students would be practicing at the stump. At which point they asked if they could sit in. As it is open space, of course I said sure! Plus it would give my students an opportunity to pass messages to people they didn’t know.

The three of us chatted on our way down to the stump. They were a very nice couple interested in spirituality and drawn to Lily Dale. When we arrived in the grove, most of my students and their guests were already in the pews so I bid my companions adieu and went about my business. As there were a few additional groups of people, not with my group, I greeted them, explained we were not Lily Dale registered mediums but that several individuals would be practicing their message passing. Some stayed, some left – hopefully they all got what they needed.

Each of the first year students got up and passed the messages. Most were nervous. Many surprised themselves. They did a beautiful job (this is one proud mama!)

At the end, all the additional groups had left. Except the couple I walked in with. At which point, the wife thanked us for allowing them to join us as she felt comfortable seeing that mediums are real people, and not how they are sometimes portrayed on TV. She also asked a question – the flood gates then opened and the messages poured for the two of them.

At the end, the couple walked out with our group and chatted with us for about another 45 minutes!! Many of my students interacted with them, sharing their experiences and listening to this couple’s.  It is my belief that Spirit guided these individuals to us because they needed something. Some reassurance… some faith… some connection… and, hopefully they received it.
