When I started my career in the metaphysical community more than nine years ago, my colleagues on the psychic fair circuit told me, “If you are going to do the fairs, you NEED a banner. You should contact Linda Donaldson. She is a graphic designer and she is the best!”
I procrastinated. At the time, I was still only dipping my toe in the water and was uncertain I really wanted to be reading people. With that in mind, I didn’t want to spend the money on an expensive sign. More importantly, I didn’t know who this Linda was or how to get ahold of her. So I continued to do fairs without a sign.
As I continued to do more and more events which resulted in more and more private readings, the uncertainty began to turn into clarity that I really did love doing readings. It was about that time that I began looking around the fair circuit and realize that in order to look professional, I really did need a sign. But at that point, I still didn’t know who this Linda that everyone was talking to was.
Then I finally met her.
At a fair in Lewiston, I was placed next to Bruce Donaldson. He is a wonderful tarot reader and healer who also just so happens to be Linda’s husband. She wasn’t there on Saturday, but on Sunday she showed up to front Bruce’s table. As fate would have it, it was a slow Sunday so she and I had a chance to talk.
She is a funny, charismatic woman who immediately made me comfortable. Before I knew it she was talking to me about creating a sign and by the end of the fair I was handing over a check as down payment.
Within weeks she had me a proof of the design. She did a BEAUTIFUL job. It had elements that resonated with me such as the tree of life, the phases of the moon, celtic text, a turtle and hare. She was inspired.
This banner became my logo. I used it on my business cards and brochures. The CDs clients get to take home with them were adorned by it. My husband even modified my website to have the elements incorporated.
While I still love the sign, over the last year I began to feel it didn’t tell my story. It began to feel too busy with too much going on. I found myself yearning for a new, fresh and clean image.
Knowing that Linda prided herself on my sign – she has told me more than once she thinks it is one of the best she has ever done – I hesitated in contacting her. And rather than going directly to her, I opted decided I’d try Fiverr.
THAT WAS A BIG MISTAKE. Now, I bet they do fantastic work for some but unfortunately the person I went with lacked luster. Rather than offering me a new look, the designer took what I already had and just retooled it. I ultimately walked away without a logo and $125 poorer.
With my tail between my legs after that big OOPS, I contacted Linda. She was happy to help. We went through the same process as before. You see she talks with each client asking them a host of questions. She asked me about colors and themes, my likes and dislikes, and if there was anything I really didn’t want.
It then sat. She (and Spirit) noodled it. You see, I believe mediumship comes in various formats and her ability to create graphics is the way Spirit speaks to her. And she, fortunately, doesn’t push just waits for the inspiration to hit.
Knowing her process, I waited patiently. And when I got my first rounds of designs to review, I knew she was on the right path. They needed a little retooling, but on the right path.
She played with them and would send me edits. But nothing was quite coming out just right. Then one day she sent me one that I had never seen before with the comment, “I know this is different… but what do you think.”
I LOVED IT.
And with minimal tweaking, it was ready to go.
She works miracles, because quite honestly when we started – I HAD NO IDEA WHAT I WANTED. All I knew was that I wanted something different that was concise, clean and not too fluffy. That’s what I got!
